Post-Quarantine Habits and Transformations
Post-Quarantine Habits and Transformations
When the initial news of quarantine was announced back in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, my personal reaction was a mix of relief and resignation. Recognizing that I was an essential worker, my personal sentiment was akin to my heart shattering a little. Despite the inherent risks, I continued working throughout the early stages of the pandemic, attending regular meetings to discuss “risk and exposure mitigation.” These sessions were a blend of serious risk assessments and a sprinkle of responsible adult drinking, punctuated by conversations held outside with a 10-foot distance to maintain social distancing.
New Hobbies and Obsessions
During quarantine, I didn’t start a plethora of new activities but rather discovered a trove of ideas I never had the chance to try. Fitness became a significant part of my routine, and I became deeply engrossed in K-dramas, a trend that caught fire right before 2021 rolled around. Even now, I am on a quest to define my personal style, though leggings and hoodies remain my go-to wear, albeit not my only options. More recently, I found myself enchanted by webtoons, a passion that didn’t emerge during quarantine but did so shortly after the initial isolation period ended.
Healthy Habits and Their Impact
In my journey to be more confident and self-care oriented, a few significant habits have formed. Cutting my own hair has become a regular part of my routine. It is not just a practical endeavor but a symbolic one, as I find a certain satisfaction in doing things I once relied on professionals for. Additionally, I have made a habit of drinking liquid (usually water or herbal tea) upon waking, as it is believed to thin the blood and prevent morning strokes. Daily 10-minute morning exercises have also been incorporated, and I made a point of starting the day with a pink grapefruit. These changes have led to a healthier lifestyle, and I proudly continue without any medications, all thanks to my personal habits.
Mindfulness and Detoxification
Meditation remains a constant in my life, even during quarantine and beyond, as my local retreats are now closed due to the Corona pandemic. I actively cut down on television watching, espousing that it serves as a conduit for garbage and poisons intended to manipulate minds for increased advertising revenue. This viewpoint, while somewhat extreme, underscores my commitment to mental detoxification and maintaining a healthy, mindful approach to media consumption.
In conclusion, quarantine has been a period of introspection and transformation. While the world around me has changed, my inner journey towards health, confidence, and mindfulness continues, each day bringing subtle but significant changes to my life.
